Making paper

Here are some photos from room 8 and their paper making!

Gabriel made some paper mush for everyone to see!
Students grabbed some paper so Ms.Long could blend it all together with water.
Room 8 used their hands to smooth out the paper over the screen.
They took turns squeezing out the water using felt pieces.
Getting messy!

We have left our second batch of paper to soak over the weekend! We tried to make 2 different kinds of paper.  Once we let it dry we will see how they both turned out.  Great work room 8.

Glow station

Room 8 enjoyed the new glow in the dark station! We looked at the mix of lights and colors.

Paper

We had a scavenger hunt in the class to search for all the paper items we could find....
We found: Books, coloured paper, wax paper, sandpaper, recycling bin paper and MORE!

Room 8 Is continually coming up with intuitive questions and comments about their inquiry of paper and where it comes from.

Science and paper

Today we made some Origami boats to float in our colourful water station! Room 8 was able to feel the difference between paper that absorbed water, and paper that got "soggy and mushy" - Ethan

Try it at home!

Learning about paper

Room 8 had a discussion about paper! What do we know about paper?
We loved this book, "The Great Paper Caper". It opened up a discussion all about paper!
Room 8 asked:

- Is all paper made from trees?
- How is paper smooth?
- why does paper tear or rip?

Stretch

Room 8 knows that stretching is important for our bodies. Here we are stretching together after our dance practice today.

Special guest

One of our stars of the week, Carlitos brought his Mother in this morning to read us a beautiful story about a bouncing king. We loved it.
Thank you!
