Haiku Poetry

Today we learned about Haiku poetry. We learned that Haiku is a form of Japanese nature poetry. Haiku is a three lined poem that tells of an experience that has made an impression on the poet. A haiku does not rhyme (like a couplet) but it does have a form. It has a total of seventeen syllables in three lines distributed like this:

Surrealism

Today we learned about dislocation, metamorphosis, and juxtaposition in surrealist art. We then applied our knowledge on these new terms by making a surrealist collage -Dali style.

A Pirates Christmas

Arrrrrrr! The grade 4/5 musical is well underway, as students are working very hard practicing dances, acting and singing! We have also started collecting costumes in preparation of the play. As props and costumes are limited we are looking to the community to help us in borrowing, reusing or collecting any of the materials or clothing listed below:

Special guest today



We learned how to play the special wooden spoons today! We listened to so many different types of music, and learned the rhythms for each. That was wonderful, thank you Mr.S and Madame Havixbeck!
