The Importance of Patrols

The following video was made by four Grade 5 students from room 4. The video was made to promote road safety! The girls wanted to answer the question: What does patrol safety mean to you?
They submitted the video to CAA, in hopes of sending 15 students from Stevenson to WE DAY this year. Good luck ladies!

Walk to School Month

Hello room 4 families,
October is Walk to School Month. In celebration of this, Stevenson is having its annual Walk to School Day on Thursday, October 9. We will meet at the Rod’s Football field at 8:35am (Silver Ave. and Ferry Rd.). We will walk along the north side of Silver Ave. to the school. If your child is bussed to school, the bus will drop the students off at the field to join in the walk. Staff will be there to supervise students. Families, please feel free to join us in our walk to school. Once we arrive at the school, we will have a brief assembly to start our day together outside.

Pablo Picasso inspired art...

What room 4 has been working on in art....
Here are some photos taken of our work on Pablo Picasso!
Our work on self portraits after looking at cubism and more abstract art from several of Picassos pieces.

Picasso quotes: "all children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once they grow up".
"I paint objects as I think them, not as I see them".
Classroom art inspired by " Girl with a Boat (Maya Picasso)",1938
As seen through our google search below!

Poetry

Room 4 has started work on Poetry for ELA. We are looking at poetic devices such as rhyme, form, simile, metaphor, alliteration, onomatopoeia, and personification.
The five types of poems that we are focusing on are: Free Verse, Cinquain, Haiku, Shape and List poems.
Today we started writing a Free verse poem together called an "I Am From", poem.

Thanks to Dacotah - our photographer of the day.

Pablo Picasso

Today our class started looking at Pablo Picasso and his art!

The class compared and contrasted our Kandinksy abstract art to that of the abstract and cubist pieces of the great Pablo Picasso. Check out the video above to learn a little bit more!
